PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Ellen Morgan Kelly passed away Friday morning, March 15, 1935 at her home near Ulysses.

By a large section of the public she was familiarly known as she was generally respected.

The deceased was born February 2, 1847 at Ballydulaney Mayo Bridge, Down county, Ireland. She had lived almost 68 years in the United States. She resided for several years in New York, later going to Illinois where she was united in marriage to James Kelly on October 12, 1871 at Bloomington. In 1884 she came with her family to Ulysses, Nebraska. For many years, this kindly lady has been associated with brave deeds and ennobling thoughts.

She leaves to mourn her going, two sons, Daniel and Hugh J. Kelly, four daughters, Mrs. Mary Gould, Mrs. Isabelle Gannon, and the Misses Ellen G. and Catherine Kelly, all of near Ulysses. There are eight grandchildren, Leonard, Elizabeth and George Gannon, and James, Mary, Lucille, Leo and John Kelly, together with a brother, Daniel Morgan, his two sons, Michael and Francis, and daughter Charlotte, all of Castleton-On-The-Hudson, New York. She was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother, three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Kelly was a loving wife and mother and a kind neighbor. Her entire life has been one of devotion and good works. Ever charitable and ministring to the wants of others, she was dearly beloved by all who knew her. A good woman has been called to her reward.

The deceased had been very ill for some time past but had improved of late and had attended church services. Throughout her illness of some time ago, her children did everything possible to alleviate her suffering and were unceasing in their devotion to their good mother.

The last rites of the church were administered by her pastor, Rev. J. J. Loughran. Her funeral services were held Monday morning, March 18, 1935, at the Immaculate Conception Church at Ulysses, when Father Loughran celebrated a requiem mass for the repose of her soul. Many old friends and neighbors were in attendance. Rev. Loughran gave a very impressive sermon. The floral tributes were many and very beautiful.

Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery with the Helmsdoerfer mortuary service of Lincoln in charge.

The pall bearers were Lester Jones, Thomas Timoney, John McGowen, Jr., and her three grandsons, Leonard Gannon, George Gannon and James Kelly.

"Eternal Rest Grant Unto Her, O Lord, and May Perpetual Light Shine Upon Her."

Though the River is Wide,
And the Water is Deep,
I must cross it alone,
But I'll have no fear,
For Jesus is near,
To guide Me Safely Home.
