"Donald C. Alford"
Liberty - Donald C. Alford, 83, 221 S. Turkey Creek Road, Liberty Road, Liberty, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996 at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
He was born June 24, 1913 to Ferdinand and Myrtle Hokey Alford in Laurel.
On March 30, 1946, in Lexington, KY, he was married to Barbara Reese, to whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage in March.
He had worked at Roots Blower in Connersville for 48 years, retiring in 1977. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his wife wintered in Key Largo, Fla., for the past 20 years. They spent summers in the Cherokee Campground in Centerville for 20 years and at the Fox Run Campground in Brookville for five years.
He had lived all of his life in he Union County area.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Reese Alford of Liberty; two sons, Barry L. Alford of Germantown, Ohio and Michael D. Alford of Loveland, Ohio; two daughters, Sue A. Paterson of Fishers and Donna J. Bowman of Centerville; a sister Helen Deilkes of Connersville; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark A. Alford; a daughter, Tina M. Alford; three brothers; two sisters; and a grandson, Rodney Patterson.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Showalter-Blackwell, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. Burial will be in Laurel North Cemetery. Friends may call tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to the Kidney Center of Richmond in Mr. Alford's memory. * * *
