Mother of five sons -- Gabriel, Joseph, Silas, Ephriam, and Caleb Hopkins
Silas died in 1818, Mary in 1811. Both were originally buried in a private plot on the north shore of Hamilton Bay. The remains were reportedly later removed to a large plot in Hamilton Cemetery, however the only confirmed remains so moved were those of Gabriel Hopkins

Inscription
Captain Silas Hopkins,
U.E. Loyalist, a native of Wales;
immigrated to the United States of America;
served 7 years in the revolutionary war
in the service of King George III;
was taken prisoner,
confined 3 years and paid 1000 pound fine;
came to Canada during the time of Governor Simcoe;
died November 1818 aged 77 years.
Mary, his wife died March 1801 aged 58 years.
