"Was born in Hardin County, Kentucky. He died on 15 Nov 1920 in Bowie County, Texas. Not very much information is available about Samuel Lafayette, or "Lafe" as the family called him. The same can be said of his wife, Susan Frances Wolf Willyerd. It is known that Lafe was involved in the freight business, and at one time transported goods from Jefferson, Texas to Marshall, Texas and the surrounding area. That was during the time when Jefferson, Texas was a thriving steamboat port city. According to my Dad (Lafe's son Floyd Willyerd), Lafe was well liked in the community. Dad never spoke of his Mother, although Mama (Blanche Willyerd) did on occasion."

Parents: Samuel Willyard and Susan Cash.
