VAIDEN, Rev. William Rodney, 94, of Salem, died Tuesday, April 30, 1996. Rev. Vaiden was a 1924 graduate of Mount Vernon College in Baltimore, Md., and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Richmond in 1927. He entered Southern Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. and graduated in 1931 with a Masters Degree in Theological Studies. He served several Baptist churches in Virginia, (including Vesuvius Baptist Church), North Carolina, Maryland and West Virginia, but his health caused him to take retirement. He served as a Chaplain in the Civil Conservation Corps Camp in Virginia, and from 1953 to 1979, he had worked for a Navy Repair Facility in the Naval Amphivious School. Rev. Vaiden was preceded in death by his wife, Ivis Hawse Vaiden, and his sisters, Mildred V. Aird and Victoria V. Worden, and is survived by his niece, Victoria W. Owen, Newark, Del.; his nephew, Stanley Worden, Trenton, N.J.; a great-nephew, David E. Owen, Watertown, Mass.; a great-grandnephew, David E. Owen, V. A graveside service will be held in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va., Wednesday, May 8, 1996, 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Hamric and the Rev. Daniel Stanley officiating. Please omit flowers, and the family suggests contributions to Airlee Court Baptist Church, or the Vesuvius Baptist Church in his memory. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel anytime Tuesday.
