Mrs. Joseph P. (Marie R.) Kries, 78, of 912 N. Sixth St., Manitowoc, died late
Wednesday evening in Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home
and 10 a.m. in Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt
will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary Church Cemetery, Tisch Mills.
Mrs. Kries, nee Marie Stangel, was born Aug. 16, 1899 in Tisch Mills, and was
the last of children of the Frank W. and Anna Rezach Stangel family. She was
reared and educated in Tisch Mills and was married to George Spevachek June 20,
1923 in Tisch Mills. He preceded her in death June 4, 1944. She was married to
Joseph P. Kries April 19, 1951 in Manitowoc. Mrs. Kries had resided in Manitowoc
since 1923 and was a charter member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and
Christian Mothers Altar Society and Manitowoc Senior citizens.
Survivors include her husband, a step-son, Robert J. Kries of Green Bay; two
step-daughters, Mrs. John (Jayne) Kropp and Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Klinkner of
Manitowoc; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Emma Stangel of Manitowoc, eight grandchildren,
five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Five brothers and three sisters
preceded her in death.
Friends may call in Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday,
where a parish prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Spevacek-Stangel.
A pretty church wedding took place today when Marie Rose Stangel, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Stangel of Tisch Mills, became the bride of George J. Spevacek,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spevacek of Zander, Wis. The wedding was celebrated
at 9 o'clock this morning at St. Mary's Catholic church at Tisch Mills, the Rev.
Shimek performing the ceremony that united the couple. Miss Otella Stangel was
the maid of honor and the best man was Frank O. Stangel, brother of the bride.
Miss Edna Meisner of Manitowoc and Miss Emma Houg of Milwaukee were the bridesmaids
while the other attendants were Dan Stangel, a brother of the bride, and Alvin
Marten.
The ushers were Joseph Schlei and Edward Stangel. Others in the wedding party
were Angeline Spevacek as flower girl and Norbert Schleis as ring bearer, while
Lohengrin's wedding march was played on the organ by Joseph I. Stangel.
A reception at the home of the bride's parents followed and covers were place
for 150 guests at the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Spevacek are leaving tomorrow for
Doylestown, Penn., and Chicago, and after a month's absence, will be at home
at Nineteenth and Madison streets, this city. Mr. Spevacek is employed at the
J.J. Stangel Hardware company.
Those from out of town who came to attend the wedding were Prof. C.A. Stangel
of Doylestown, Penn., Emil Spevacek of Peoria, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Richard Healy
and family of Antigo, Prof. J. Wojta and family of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Jansky and family of Rockwell, Wenzel Wojta and family of Reedsville, Anton
Spevacek and family of Milwaukee, John Tischer and family of Wausau, Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Straka, Miss Mary Kolofa and Miss Emma Houg of Milwaukee, Miss Edna
Meisner of Manitowoc, Alvin Marten of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lodel and
family of Two Rivers and Mrs. and Mrs. Paul Sieboldt of Mishicot.
