Josephine Maud Smith was the daughter of Earl Smith and Luella Moore.

She married first to Nealie Roy Walker at Guthrie Center, Guthrie, Iowa on Dec. 27, 1906. Her husband died of tuberculosis on July 19, 1912. As well as being left with two small daughters, Josephine was expecting at the time of his death and gave birth on Aug. 1, 1912 to their son Roy E. Walker.

Josephine married second on Nov. 12, 1914 to Ferdinand Joseph Blair at Bagley, Guthrie, Iowa.

Both marriages are recorded in Iowa, Marriage Records, !880-1945.
