Mary Holt Wimmer, 73, of Copper Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 1999, her fifty-third wedding anniversary. She was born on June 28, 1925, in Callaway. She was a member of the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Women's Fellowship Group. She attended Algoma Mission School and graduated from Callaway High School. Mrs. Wimmer attended Madison College for two years during the summer. She worked at Roanoke Cotton Mills, Piece Goods Shop, Cole's Egg Farm, and taught school for two years at a one room school in Callaway. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Betsy Mullins Holt. She was also preceded in death by a baby daughter, Sharon Kay Wimmer. Survivors include her beloved husband of 53 years, John Cline Wimmer, Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, J. C. and Peggy Wimmer of Check; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Glenn Gallimore of Rocky Mount, Sarah and Larry King of Cloverdale, and Karen and Gerald Moran of Copper Hill; grandchildren, Richie and Michael Gallimore, Travis and Jennifer Wimmer, J. W. and Crista King, and Jason Moran; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alger and Muriel Holt of Callaway, Bill and Margaret Holt of Boones Mill, Maurice and Jane Holt of Callaway, and Sammy and Joice Holt of Bent Mountain; sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey and the late Rudolph Meador of Mechanicsville, Stella and Rev. Bob Couch of Grottoes, Jennie and Wendell Boitnott of Boones Mill, and Nancy H. and Jack Setliff of Salem; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews; special caregivers, Brenda Lyons, Ruby Dickerson, Rachel Wilson; and many family members, friends, and neighbors. Funeral services will be at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 1999. The Rev. Dale Bowman, The Revs. Enos and Edith Griffith will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
