MRS. GROVER C. MELTON
Mrs. Bessie Melton, 86, of 128 E. Ohio St., died at 8:15 a.m. Monday in Essex
Nursing Home after a three-week illness. She was born on May 27, 1886 in
Milford, Ind. and had come here 55 years ago from Mishawaka.
On June 2, 1935, as Bessie Norris, she was married to Grover C. Melton, who
survives. Mrs. Melton's maiden name was Be3ssie Bartholomew.
Also surviving are a son, Harry E. Norris of South Bend; two sisters, Mrs.
Blanche Baugher and Mrs. Georgia Martin, both of Elkhart and a brother, Eldon
Bartholomew of Syracuse, Ind.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday in the Forest G. Hay and Son
Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan St. where services will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Thursday by Rev. Keith Bennett, pastor of the First Brethren Church. Burial
will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
