Richard Aguilar, 63, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Richard was born July 14, 1948, in Holbrook, Ariz.

Richard was known throughout the community of Williams as Coach, as he has spent 39 years coaching young men, as well as young women in the Little League Organization.

To Richard, baseball wasn't life, but he used the game to show how life could be related to baseball. It is a game of forgiveness. It teaches us how to fight through adversity, and allows us to savor successes. He saw it as an opportunity to help young men and women to build character, and excelled in this aspect to have touched many lives through the community of Williams, Ash Fork, Seligman, and the Grand Canyon.

Richard was also known for his conversations. He never pushed one away, when one wanted his time. He was described not as a man of many words, but what words he spoke were spoken with a purpose.

Richard was the second oldest of eleven children and is survived by brothers and sisters, Eddie, Frankie, Danny, Alfred, Margaret, Eusabia, Susan, and Priscilla. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews, and the nephew to his mother's sister, Francis. He was the father of Lawrence and Eddie, and a proud Grandfather to Makynzie and Andres, who loved to share their stories of baseball and softball with their Grandpa.

Richard had put in many hours serving the community through the American Legion, Cordova Post No. 13, and served on the Honor Guard.

He was the recipient of a Purple Heart as he was wounded in Vietnam, as a member of the Cavalry in the U.S. Army.

Services were held Saturday, June 30, 2012, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Williams. This was followed by a Military Sendoff at the Williams Cemetery, which was well-deserved and fitting for a man who served the community, the country and God.

A gathering was arranged by the Women's Auxillary and the Cordova Post No. 13 where stories were shared and food was prepared. Richard will be greatly missed.
