The youngest son of Grace Ross Miller and Rev. James Miller, James had two older siblings, Brother Owen and Sister Mary Elizabeth (Betty). His father was an ordained minister, and the family moved as assignments to congregations changed.
He married Doris Borah, two children. Heroic service to country, WWII, during which he sustained significant injuries. He recovered and received his college degree, Additionally, he taught school in Marion, Ohio, for a time.

Military: The 329th Regiment

"My father Sergeant James L. Miller (1917-1954), awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with an oak leaf cluster, fought with the 329th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, in the 83rd 'Thunderbolt' Division."
(He was: James L. Miller of 3rd Battalion, 329th Infantry Regiment, a Master Sergeant, Communications.)
"The contributions of my father's unit (which embarked across English Channel for Normandy on 19 June 1944) deserve special attention... Much can be learned too concerning the war in Europe from a glimpse at the exploits of a regiment, which played a pivotal role in defeating the Germans in history's greatest conflict-- World War Two."
