Spc. Trevor B. Adkins, 21, of Spring Lake, N.C., died July 8, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit in Maidan Shahr, Wardak province, Afghanistan, with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 978th Military Police Company, 93rd Military Police Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas.

A service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the chapel at the funeral home followed by burial at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with full military honors. The family will receive friends at a visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 6:00 ~ 9:00 PM.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Kaitlyn; uncles, Jimmy Corley, Louis Haines and Ralph Williams; maternal grandparents, Paul and Patricia Corley; and paternal grandfather, Hartzell Elwood Haines, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, father, brother, two sisters, paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles, several cousins, nieces and nephews; Godmother and Godsiblings.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Trevor's name to Friends of the Fallen.org, P.O. Box 2081, Dover Air Force Base, DE 19902. Obituary information provided by Adcock Funeral Home.
