DIED, at her home in Osage township, May 3rd, 1906, Mrs. Robert Baker. The maiden name of the deceased was Samantha Hopkins. She was born at Bellcenter, Logan county, O., August 19, 1845, removed with her parents to Iowa in 1848, and resided upon the farm. At the age of twelve years she was left an orphan to fight the battles of life. At the age of seventeen she became a member of the Baptist church and lived to the rules of that church until 1870 but under the influence of Bro. Gower and others her mind was changed. She was married to Robert Baker August 29, 1867. She and her husband came to Kansas in the year of 1868, and resided upon a farm in Osage township where she lived until death released her from her sufferings. Nine children were born to them seven which survive her.
