Billy G. Artrip, Sr., age 78 of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012. He was born August 31, 1933 in Russell County, Virginia. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. Billy loved bluegrass music and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters; one son, Bill Artrip, Jr.; his first wife, Betty Jane Breeding Artrip and his second wife, Geneva Artrip.
He is survived by one daughter, Priscilla Shortridge and husband Tony of Wardell, VA; three sons, Frank Artrip and wife Wanda, who was his caregiver, of Bandy, VA, Dwane Artrip and wife Lesa of Jewell Ridge, VA and Darrell Artrip of Baptist Valley, VA; two sisters, Molly and Lula; one brother, Don; six grandchildren, Roger Artrip, Hanna Artrip, Reid Artrip, Renea Dudley, Amy Steele and Josh Shortridge; four great-grandchildren, Stormi Cook, Cierra Cook, Dawson Cook and Easton Dudley; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Rev. Guy Harris officiating. Entombment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Lebanon, Virginia. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
