Andrew Jackson Gillock waws born in Harrison County, Indiana, January 8, 1841, and died at the home of his son, Jos. D. Gillock, near Deerfield, Nov. 24, 1926, aged 85 years, 10 months, and 16 days.
He was united in marriage to Belinda Benham, January 12th, 1867, in Green County, Indiana. To this union seven children were born; four boys and three girls. One son and one daughter and the beloved wife passed on before. The children remaining are Mrs. Flora Kersten, of Iowa, Mrs. Lyda Burge of Oklahoma, Samuel, of California, and Wm. and Jos. D. Gillock of Deerfield.
In 1876 he came to Kansas, moving in a wagon and locating in Reno County, near Nickerson. In 1900 he moved to western Kansas and settled in Kearny County near Deerfield. In early life he was converted and united with the Methodist Church. The family altar was established in the home from the beginning.
The funeral was held in the Methodist Church at Deerfield, Friday, Nov. 26, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. J. Q. Turner in charge. The body was laid to rest in the Deerfield Cemetery.
He leaves to mourn his loss the surviving children, the grandchildren, and a host of friends.

They glorious warfare's past
The battles fought, the victory won
And thou art crowned at last."
