Lewis Burdick married Rachel Cook in Greenfield, Saratoga, New York, then moved to Springfield, Williams County, Ohio in the 1830s. They had nine children, eight girls and one boy. Rachel passed away around 1849 and Lewis then married Lydia Stubbs, with whom he had two sons. Lewis, his wife, and younger children moved to Avalon, Livingston County, Missouri after the Civil War with a church organization called the United Brethren in Christ.
