He was born April 13, 1922 in Danville, the son of Lyle and Marie Bartlett. He married Mary A. Robinson on Nov. 24, 1949. She preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 2011.
He is survived by a niece, Angela Armijo and three cousins, John Frank Chow, Mary Christine Elliott and Vernice Kent.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He saw service in the Caribbean, North Atlantic, South Pacific, New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, New Hebrides, Okinawa, Hawaii and Iwo Jima. Later he served one year in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War.
