Mr. J. G. Mattern died Sunday morning at 12:10 o'clock at his residence, No. 1218 Floyd Avenue. He had been ill for several months with a dropsical affliction, which caused his death. He leaves a wife and two children and two brothers.
Mr. Mattern was for a long time a leather dealer in this city and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He died the death of an exemplar Christian.
