Velma Allison, 89, of McMinnville (Centertown community) died Thursday, May 22 at River Park Hospital.

Born on April 15, 1919 in White County, she was a retired school bus driver for the Warren County School System for many years and was a member of Bates Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by her parents; Curry S. and Mary (Moore) Hutchings; her husband Edwin H. Allison; son Edwin Eugene Allison; and brother-in-law Elmo Griffin.

Survivors include her grandchildren, James Andrew Allison and Nacy Caliene Hill both of McMinnville; great-grandson Isaac Roswell Hillis of McMinnville; daughter-in-law, Dr. Jane McGee Allison of McMinnville; sisters, Agnes and (Royce) Knowles, Rowena and (Walter) Clark, Llewellyn Griffin, and Linda and (John) Vickers; and serveral nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held Saturday in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Gardens of Memory. Online condolences may be made at www.mcminnvillefuneralhome.com. McMinnville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
