A son of Jonathan Lee and Rebecca Powell Bolding.

John was a Sergeant in Company H, 2nd Regiment South Carolina Rifles during the Civil War.

He was wounded between July 27th and 30th 1862 during The Seven Days Battles fought near Richmond, Virginia

John later died around April 13-15 1863 on Black Water River near Suffolk, VA, his military service records suppose that he was "Killed by Yankee Scouts"
