Justice Gould Grants Wife Divorce on Cross Bill
The divorce granted yesterday by Justice Gould in the Clarke case was in favor of Mrs. Clara V. Clark and was on a cross bill which she filed to the proceedings for divorce instituted against her by her husband, James G. Clark (possibly #15459952). Mr. Clark brought suit before the adoption of the code charging his wife with cruelty. To that Mrs. Clark filed a cross bill, alleging desertion.
On the testimony offered in support of her claim Justice Gould dissolved the marriage contract and awarded Mrs. Clark the custody of her two children.
Her second marriage was to George Heumann. They were the parents of at least three children, Annie Elizabeth Heumann (1908-1973) who married Samuel E. Atwell, Catherine V. Heumann (1912-1918) and Victor M. Heumann (1914-1962).
