SERVICES HELD FOR LIFE-LONG COUNTY WOMAN
Graveside services, under the direction of Macy and Son of McMinnville, were held at the Masonic cemetery Saturday afternoon, Aug. 19, for Lenore Rogers, long-time McMinnville resident who died at the age of 90 on Thursday, Aug. 17, 1961. Elder Morris Venden of the McMinnville Seventh Day Adventist church officiated.
A life-long resident of Yamhill county, Mrs. Rogers was born at Hopewell on June 28, 1871. She was reared and education there and was graduated from Oregon College of Education at Monmouth in 1893.
In 1901, at Hopewell, she married Thomas H. Rogers, who predeceased her in 1954. She had lived in McMinnville since 1916.
Mrs. Rogers was the oldest member of the McMinnville Seventh Day Adventist church and the last surviving charter member. She was a lover of flowers, trees and rocks and had traveled widely to bring specimens back home.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Pearl Matlock of Salem; five nephews, Norris Rogers of Portland, William Rogers of Herlong, Calif., Roy Rogers of Reno, Nev., Fred Collard of Camas, Wash. And Tom Collard of San Francisco, Calif.; seven nieces, Mrs. Zonweiss Mead and Mrs. Nellie Hamblin, both of McMinnville, Mrs. Grace Scotten and Mrs. Bessie Karnath, both of Vancouver, Wash., Jessie Baty of Dayton and Mrs. Lucille Gilchrist of Portland.
