Mrs. Austin was formerly of Asheville. She was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee, on 8 February 1912, to the late John T. and Elber Raxter Truell.
Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Jack, Carl and Earl Truell; two sisters, Lucille Truell and Pearl Craig; daughter, Betty Jean Taylor; granddaughter, Diana Taylor; great-granddaughter, Jessica Hall; and former husband, C.G. Austin.
Surviving Mrs. Austin are a son and his wife; a daughter and her husband; a son-in-law; two sisters; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, 24 May 2001, in the chapel of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Road. Entombment followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
