Mrs. Mary A. Fletcher, wife of the late Leigh B. Fletcher of Omaha, passed away Monday, August 13, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Winifred Gould in Omaha. The body was brought here today and the funeral was held at the T. P. Lippincott home. Death followed an illness of five months, during which time she was given every loving care possible by her daughter, Mrs. Gould.

Mary A. Lippincott was born in Indiana Jan. 10, 1844. She was married to Leigh R. Fletcher and lived for many years on a farm north of Blair. She was the mother of nine children, three dead and six living. They are Mrs. William Gould of Omaha; Mrs. William Watson of Paonta, Colo.; Clifford Fletcher of Omaha; Omar and Earl of Bancroft; and Ephraim of Lucora, Nebr.

She was a sister of Mrs. Lacretia Cantlin of Omaha; Mrs. S. R. Fletcher of Bancroft; and the late T. P. Lippincott of Blair. Another brother, William J. Lippincott, resides in Red Cloud, Nebraska. Mrs. Fletcher was noted for her sweet sympathetic ways and will be greatly missed by her children and her many friends.

Mrs. Mary Fletcher, wife of the late Lee Fletcher, and well known to the older inhabitants of this county, died in Omaha last Monday and the remains were brought to Blair yesterday. She was a sister of J. W. Lippincott of this city.

ANOTHER WASHINGTON COUNTY PIONEER GONE

Another of Washington County’s pioneers, Mrs. Mary A. Fletcher, has passed to the great beyond, her death occurring last Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. Gould at Omaha. Deceased and her husband, L. R. Fletcher, who died at Omaha some months ago, were Washington county pioneer in the fullest sense. They were married at Cuming City in the early days and lived on their farm on the bench, four miles north of this city for many years.

Deceased was the daughter of J. C. Lippincott, deceased; a sister to the late T. P. Lippincott and is survived by three brothers, James of this city; E. C., a well known farmer living on the old farm occupied by the parents during their lifetime; and William J., who lives in Webster county, this state; and two sisters, Mrs. Rene Fletcher of Bancroft and mrs. J.R. Cantlin of Omaha. Nine children were born to thenm, six are still living.

The body was brought here on Wednesday, funeral services being held at the home of Mrs. T. P. Lippincott, and the burial in Blair cemetery by the side of her husband and where her parents and children repose.

Mary Ann and Leigh were married 29 Jan 1862 at the home of her father, Joshua Lippincott.

His name appears as Leigh in the following census records - 1870 Washington Co., NE (Legh); 1880 Washington Co., NE and 1900 Cuming Co., NE as Leigh, as well as the Nebraska State Census Records.

Leigh and Mary Ann actually had 10 children, one of whom was named Omar Leigh.
