Viola Adams was baptized at the Joshua Methodist Church, Joshua, Texas in 1908. After becoming an Episcopalian she served the church on the Alter Guild, choir and as a church school teacher. She also was active in both the Woman's Club and the Garden Club. During World War 11 she worked for the U. S. Army as a War Material Inspector. Viola graduated from Joshua High School in 1925. In 1926 she graduated from Cullin School of Business, Cleburne, Texas. In 1950 and 1951, she attended the University of Chicago studying creative writing, and later published in Family Circle Magazine. In 1936 Viola had a radio program on WACO, Waco, Texas called " Ann Bowman Sings". It was a fifteen minute program on which Viola sang popular songs under the pseudonym of Ann Bowman.
