LAURENS - Graveside services for Dora Elizabeth Black Hanna will be held at Good Hope Lutheran Church Cemetery on 927 Spann Road Ward, South Carolina Tuesday July 10, 2012 at 10:30am, conducted by the Reverend Mitch Evans. Visitation will follow the service. Mrs. Hanna, of Laurens and formerly of Denmark, South Carolina died Sunday, July 8 following a brief stay at Agape Assisted Senior Care Harbison and Agape Hospice House of Columbia, She was 92 years old. Born on May 21, 1920 to Charles Eugene Black and Eoline Inez Monts Black, she was educated in Saluda County Public Schools and graduated from Newberry College, Class of 1941, where she was a member of the Newberry College Choir. She taught first grade in the Allendale County and Walterboro County Public School Systems before marrying K. C. Hanna, a Newberry College classmate, during World War II while he was an officer at Bainbridge Maryland Naval Training Station. There were married 61 years before his death in 2004 and attended First United Methodist Church of Laurens. Known as "Totsie" by family and friends, she enjoyed reading, playing bridge, gardening, and cooking. Mrs. Hanna is survived by her three sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren as follows: William Samuel Hanna( Connie) and their son, William, and daughter, Elizabeth of Chapin; K. C. Hanna, Jr. (Marian) and their daughter, Marian Bryce, and son King, of Irmo; and Charles Walden Hanna (Sherren) and their daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Sara Walden of Batesburg-Leesville. The family requests that memorials be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 119 North Oak Street, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006, or Good Hope Lutheran Church Cemetery Endowment Fund, 378 Mine Creek Road Saluda, SC 29138, or to the K. C. Hanna Laurens School District 55 Football Athletic Scholarship Fund, The Palmetto Bank, P. O. Box 49, Laurens, SC 29360.
