Cecil E. Blaufuss, 76, a longtime Quincy-area resident, died Friday, Feb. 24, 1995, in Central Washington Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 1, 1918, to Fredrick and Marie (Von Ruden) Blaufuss at Reynolds, N.D. He attended school at Reynolds and Jamestown, N.D., graduating from high school in Reynolds in 1936. He joined the U.S. Army in January 1943 and served with the 101st Airborne Division and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was stationed in northern France, Ardennes, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded four Battle Stars, the Bronze Arrowhead, the Silver Star, the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge. He received his honorable discharge in November 1945 as a staff sergeant.

Mr. Blaufuss married Margaret Banks in 1943 at Redding, England. After his discharge they made their home in San Diego, Calif.

Mr. Blaufuss moved to Quincy in 1956 and worked for Forney Fruit as a refrigeration engineer for 25 years.

He married Josephine Hereth on May 27, 1987, at Quincy.

Mr. Blaufuss worked for Quincy Valley Fruit for 12 years, retiring in 1993.

He was a member and past governor of the Quincy Moose Lodge, a member of the Eagles Lodge of Wenatchee, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Quincy Lions Club, the American Legion Lambert Schulz Post of Quincy and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, at home; a son, Rex of Kennewick; four daughters, Janice Tibbs of Camas, Kathie Price of Tacoma, Diana McCormick of Seabrook, Texas, and Andrea Ball of Quincy; two stepsons, Ed and Rex Buck, both of Newberg, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Christine Wittington and Peggy Keen, both of Tonakset; three brothers, Eugene of Breckenridge, Minn., Charles of North Wood, N.D., and Lavern of Reynolds, N.D.; a sister, Ethel Briedenbach of Reynolds, N.D.; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.
