Nellie E. Grieve, 88, of Sioux City died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mayflower Congregational Church, with the Rev. Alta Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Grieve was born March 11, 1914, in Newcastle, Neb., the daughter of Thomas and Bessie (Gaylord) Bagley. She graduated from Newcastle High School.

She married Roy W. Grieve on Nov. 14, 1935, in Vermillion, S.D. They moved to Sioux City in 1942. Mr. Grieve died Jan. 20, 1990, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Mayflower Congregational Church, Irena Circle and Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Richard and Verna Grieve of Ames, Iowa, Wayne and Barbara Grieve of Harwood, Md., and Warren and Sue Grieve of Sioux City; two sisters, Lola Armstrong of Sioux City, and Gladys Balcom of Burke, S.D.; seven grandchildren, Mike, James, David, Scott and Jeff Grieve, Sharon Beardon and Karen Bauer; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Donald Bagley.

Pallbearers will be James, Scott, Mike and Jeff Grieve, Matt Bauer and Merton White.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland and Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
