On February 12, 1917 he was united in marriage to Ophia Miller, of Havelock, Nebr. Besides his wife he is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Edeth Dungan and Mrs. Helen Hess, both of Lincoln; Mrs. Evelene Jones of Centerline, Michigan and Mrs. Leona Young of Ithaca, Nebr. Also seven grand-children.
Mr. Newsham was the eldest of twelve children, and had spent his entire life farming in this community. His family and his home were his greatest ambition.
He had been in poor health for two years and had been confined to the hospital for the last nine months. He maintained a sturdy desire to recover his health until the very end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Ada, who died when a child, Mrs. Lucy Gustafson and Nancy Newsham; and one brother, Alvie.
Hi is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Margie Fox and Mrs. Adeline Gustafson of Ashland; and five brothers: Frank, George and Nobe of Ashland, Charles of Auxvasse, Mo., and Fred of Waverly, besides other relatives and host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Cedar Hill Methodist church at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 9. Music was furnished by a quartet - Mr. Frank Hughes, Mrs. Frank Hughes, Mrs. Clifford Hughes and Mr. W. W. Moyer, with Mrs. Stanley Caha at the piano. Pallbearers were Dale Newsham, Theodore Sinner, Ben Norenberg and Dale VanLandingham. A short service was conducted at Ceresco at 1:00 P.M. in the Nelson Funeral Home. Rev. E. T. Baldwin officiated. Burial was at the Cedar Hill cemetery.
