[Shawano Evening Leader, Monday, July 12, 1976] Merle Bauer, 76, Tigerton, died Sat., July 10 at a Wittenberg nursing home. Survivors include his wife, four daughters, one son, one brother, 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held today, July 12 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Tigerton, with Rev. Clifford Kessen officiating. Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Tigerton. The Heuer-Sivers & Stensrud Funeral Home, Tigerton, was in charge of arrangements.

Bauer, 76, Tigerton, who died July 10 at the Homme Home, Wittenberg. The Rev. Clifford Kessen officiated with burial in the Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Mr. Bauer was born October 14, 1899, in Milwaukee, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Held (sic: Bauer). He moved to Tigerton as a child. He married the former Dorothy Hoeft and the couple farmed in the Tigerton area most of their married lives. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four daughters, Maxine, Mrs. George Ehlert, Fond du Lac, Donna, Mrs. LeRoy Goetler, Wittenberg, Carol, Mrs. Charles McNulty, Hartland and Sandra, Mrs. Gerald Rowe, Janesville; one son, Roger, Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters and one brother, Garsen (sic: Garvin) Bauer, Colgate. Besides his parents, two sisters preceded him in death. Pallbearers were Leonard Hoffman, Alfred Van Norman, LeRoy Dankmeyer, Lee Doty, Russell Gutho and Franklin Hoffman.
