GREENSBORO — Mrs. Mary Catherine Ziegler, 79, of 2810 Liberty Road, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Wesley Long Community Hospital from sudden complications in her fight with cancer.
Mrs. Ziegler's funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mary Catherine Ziegler was born in Apex on May 24, 1925 to the late Otis and Inez Touchstone Thompson. She was a 1942 graduate of Rankin High School and was retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company. Mrs. Ziegler was a long time member of the Burlington Toastmasters Club and Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. After her retirement from Lorillard, Mrs. Ziegler attended nursing school at GTCC and worked as an LPN and also worked for ShowPros at the Greensboro Coliseum.
"Grandma" is survived by her two daughters, Linda Petty and Deborah Freeman; grandchildren Marc Petty, Deke Freeman and Sunni Freeman; great-granddaughter Carmella Freeman; sister Shirley Mitchell and her husband, Raymond; a special child Eric; and many other loving family members and friends.
