Rose Julia Gardner, 74, Couderay, died Monday, Feb. 6, at the Franciscan Health Care Center, Onalaska, WI.

She was born June 7, 1920, at Blueberry Lake, daughter of Benjamin J. and Florence (Lombard/Lumbar) Isham. She attended school in Couderay and later was united in marriage to Harvey W. Gardner on Dec. 29, 1944, in Rockford, IL. They owned and operated Blueberry Lake Resort until retiring in 1975. She was a member of St. Francis Solanus Mission Church, Reserve, a historian for the Blueberry Lake Property Owners Organization, and Fire Warden for Blueberry Lake.

She is survived by a son, Richard (Janice), Rockford, IL; three daughters, Karen (Mike) Phelan, Rockford, Gloria (John) Dowell and Cheryl (Bruce) Jasek, both of Onalaska; three step-daughters, Marjorie (Alvin) Kubera, Marshfield, WI, Barbara (Ray) Olssen, Ft. Myers, FL; and Helen (Kenneth) Strand of North Ft. Myers, FL; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; her parents; one son, Harvey Jr.; one sister, Eunice "Curly" Rusk; and one uncle, Peter "Manny" Lombard.

The funeral service was held at 1 P.M. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home, with Father Gregory Hopeful officiating. Music was provided by Joyce Scherer, organist, and Sarah Taylor, soloist. Visitation was from 12-1 P.M. Thursday at Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Couderay.
