His success in life is due entirely to his own industry, enterprise and good management and he well deserves the prosperity that has come to him for he is upright and honorable in all his dealings. He is a Jackson Democrat, and cast his first vote for James K. Polk.

The death of John D. Stoner occurred at the Holy Family hospital at LaPorte Tuesday evening, where he was taken a week previous. The deceased was 76 years old and his demise was brought about by the infirmities of advanced years. Mr. Stoner came to Clinton township when a young man, and by thrift and industry accumulated a fortune estimated at over $50,000, which, in the absence of other provision will go to his widow, formerly Miss Carrie Robertson of this place, who was married to the deceased a year ago. Mr. Stoner leaves no offspring. His first wife, whom he married in 1854, was Miss Martha E. Snavely. A brother, David Stoner, lives in Iowa. The funeral services will be held at the late home of the deceased in Clinton township, tomorrow, Friday, at 2 p.m., Eld. Smith of Union Mills having charge. The burial will be at the Union Mills cemetery.
