Salvatore Russo, born August 4, 1937, passed peacefully with family and friends wishing him God's speed on August 26, 2012 Sal was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Russo; and his parents Giacomo and Crucifissia Russo. Mr. Russo will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Ninta Russo and sons, Giacomo and Robert Russo, also surviving are his grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother Guetano(Nina) Russo sisters Ninta (Vinco) Cucchiara and Teresa Russo; as well as many nieces and nephews. His best friend and special dog, Toby, will also miss his keeper.Sal came to America from Sicily when he was 18 and spent the remainder of his life in Michigan. He spent many hours dancing at the Creston Post American Legion. He also enjoyed working in the yard and camping at the river.He had a passion for carpentry and crafted many beautiful pieces of furniture. When Sal was not
busy with all these activities he enjoyed traveling or just sitting and talking over a good cup of coffee any time of the day. Sal will be missed by all he touched in his life. A funeral service will be held Thursday August 30, at 1:00pm with visitation from 11-1 pm before the service at the Ofield Funeral Home. Friends are invited to a luncheon to celebrate Mr. Russo's life at the Creston Post American Legion immediately following internment at Fairplaines Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation and Spectrum Health Hospice.
