Moved with parents and family to Jefferson County, KY from the Germanna Colony/Robinson River/Rapidan/Culpeper area of Virginia. He married Rebecca on Apr 23, 1809 in Jefferson Co. He moved with his father, Ambrose and brother Simeon to Washington County, IN, across the Ohio River from Louisville, KY. He lived in Gibson Township. [Parents: Ambrose S. Garriott and Elizabeth Blankenbaker Garriott. Her ancestors arrived in VA in 1717. Ambrose Asbury Garriott listed in the paternal memorial is not his father. Ambrose S Garriott's memorial page has been combined with Ambrose Aesbury Garriott information.]

After Rebecca passed away in 1827, he married Dicey Perkins, in 1828.

Thompson, who came in 1810 [Note: William's son in law, aka John C Thompson, was born in 1806 - this might be an uncle, or the name is wrong and is John's father, Moses]. Simeon Garriott came soon afterward, locating on Elk Creek. There were several others who came about this time. Other early ones were: Murphy D.
