Enlisted 25 May 1861 at Floyd C.H., Floyd County.
Furloughed 14 Feb 1862, Winchester, 40-day reenlistment leave, age 28.
Present 23 March 1862. AWOL 12 Aug 1862, Gordonsville. Present 28 Dec 1862. Court-martialed 09 April 1863, guilty
AWOL, sentenced to four months hard labor on public roads at Staunton and forfeit six month's and seven day's pay. The court was lenient "on account of the previous good character of the accused."
KIA 03 May 1863 Chancellorsville. On 29 May 1863 his remaining court-martial sentence was set aside for his gallantry at Chancellorsville.
