Lawrence Vernon Gale, one of the most popular young men of Bismarck, died in St. Luke's Hospital, St. Louis, last Saturday, August 21, from poisoning resulting from an infection or abscess, back of his tonsils. He had been suffering from tonsillitis and diphtheria. He was twenty years and five months old at the time of his death. Funeral services of a brief nature were held at the home in Bismarck Monday afternoon, August 23, and the body was taken to Fredericktown, where it was interred in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, following services in the Christian Church. Special music was rendered by a quartet from Flat River, Mrs. Homer Inman, Miss Myra Owen, Harvey Ramsey and Rev. E. D. Owen.
Lawrence was a young man of splendid promise and was a son of Dr. and Mrs. F. W. Gale of Bismarck. He was married and leaves a widow and one child less than one year of age, his parents, one brother and {sic} two sisters. He was a youth of the highest type of character, received his early education in Bismarck schools and at present was employed at Iron Mountain during vacation. He was a student at the University of Missouri at Columbia, Mo., and would have resumed his studies at that institution next month.
