John Burke
John Burke of Eugene died March 23 of complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure. He was 73. A private service is planned.
He was born July 14, 1938, in Minneapolis to Arndt and Eva Mae Keachie Rattei.
He and his wife, Shirley Jean, were married in the early 1980s in Minnesota. She died Feb. 16, 1984.
He was married four times and lived in the same state as his first ex-wife and best friend, Carol Howard.
His education was completed in Minneapolis. He served in the Marine Corps from the late 1950s to the early 1960s. He worked as a long haul gas truck driver, in a meat packing plant and in construction.
Survivors include a son, Michael Burke Hyde of Wisconsin; a daughter, Laura Drake of Eugene; two sisters, Elizabeth Benson of Edina, Minn., and Margaret Tatro; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Three children, Johnathon Mark, Linda Louise and Patrick Wayne Burke, died previously.
Arrangements by Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield.
