In 1888 Elizabeth married Francis John Dance (1867? - 1892?) at St. Luke's Church in Deptford, in the London borough of Lewisham. They had a son, Francis Dance (1891 - 1980). But her husband Francis died c. 1892 - the cause of death is unknown. He and Elizabeth had been married only about four years.
Elizabeth second husband was William J. Shewan (1867 - 1947). They had four children:
* William W. Shewan (1895 - 1973)
* Emily P. Shewan Shepherd (1898 - 1965)
* Walter C. Shewan (1904 - 1987)
* Beatrice A. Shewan Young (1907 - 1976)
In 1911 William J. emigrated to the United States, but only their eldest son, William W., accompanied him. Father and son settled in Erie, Pennsylvania. William J. returned to London in 1921 to bring Elizabeth, daughter Emily and son-in-law Arnold Shepherd (1893 - 1977) to the United States. They departed Southhampton, England on Mar 12, 1921 on board the S.S. Aquitania and arrived at Ellis Island on Mar 19, 1921, settling initially in Erie.
Elizabeth eventually moved to Buffalo, New York, where she died in 1952.
