A native of Brantley County, he was a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mittie Flowers Lee, and his brothers, Matthew Lee and Nathan Lee.
Survivors include his wife, Nola Mae Thomas Lee of Nahunta; two sons, Daniel Lee and Matthew Lee, both of Wilmington, DE; his father, Vandy Matthew Lee of Nahunta; two stepdaughters, Sue Jean Melton of Waycross and Sheila Treisweitz of Bath NY; six stepsons, Raymond Lowman, Gary Marvin Lowman, William Morgan Lowman, and Kenneth L. Lowman II, all of Blackshear, Craig Lowman of Nahunta and Neal Lowman of Hortense; three sisters, Virginia Lee of Nahunta, Lillian Bickford of Palm Coast, FL and Elizabeth Cauch of Buffalo, WY; four brothers, Hiriam Lee of Folkston, Curtis Lee and Russell of Nahunta, and Gilbert Lee of Norcross; 24 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, from the chapel of Chambless Funeral home with Rev. George Lee and Elder. W. C. Lane officiating.
Interment with full military honors followed in Bethlehem Cemetery near Hickox.
Casketbearers were a U. S. Army detachment from Fort Stewart, GA.
