Thomas Harris Burruss, retired local attorney. A native of Lake City, S.C., he moved to Corpus Christi 32 years ago from Lakeland, Fla., where he had practiced law for several years. Burruss received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State College, and a master and doctor of law degrees from the University of Kentucky. He taught mathematics at Clemson College for two years and served two terms in the Georgia state Legislature. He was elected when he was 26 years old. Burruss practiced law here from 1932 until his retirement about four years ago. He was a member of the Nueces County Bar Association. He was a member of the Kiwanis for 15 years in Georgia and Florida, was a former Mason, member of Knights of Pythias and of the Elks. Survived by his wife, Mary Preston Burruss; daughter, Mrs. Robert Peerman; and three grandchildren.
