"Anna," as she was known by, was born the daughter of John Lund and Anna (Battin). She married Verdine Gillette, Sr., and they had three children; Ethel, Isa and Verdine Gillette Jr. They also had a young ward living with them named Ollie Belle. When her husband died, she married Gustav Zech on March 18, 1916. He needed someone to care for his four children because they were about to be placed into various homes. Her step-children were Paul Zech, Carl Zech, Mary Zech Gillette and Elsa Zech Gillette. When (her son) Verdine Jr.'s young wife died, leaving him with three small children, Anna moved in with her brood to take care of them all. A very strong-willed woman, she made plans within the family to see her step-children married and provided for. Mary married Gillette George Gillette, Verdine Jr.'s son. Then, when Elsa turned 16, she married Verdine Jr., himself who was 41 years old. She planned for Carl, to marry Verdine's daughter, Gilletta Gillette. But Gilletta would not have him, and she married a neighbor boy, William Lawrence. Paul also had other plans and when of age, he left the area and married Anna Richart. She lived out her years in the home of her son, Verdine Jr., and his wife, Elsa, along with their two children, Paul and Majorie, until she died from complications due to extreme dementia (now known as Alzheimer's Disease) and cancer. She was survived by her children, step-children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
