The Columbia City native was a manager at Byers Body Shop for 29 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of American Legion Post 98. Surviving are his wife, Joy; a son, Jeff of Fort Wayne; daughters Linda Balyeat of Fort Wayne and Elaine Plew of Decatur; a sister, Pauline Beal of Mount Summit; a brother, Jerry of Kingston, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Covington Memorial Gardens Chapel, 8408 Covington Road. Calling will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 IN 930 E., New Haven. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.
