Elizabeth Sterkel, 96, formerly of Loveland, died July 14, 2006, in Bridgeport, Neb.
She was born Aug. 22, 1909, in Wellington, Kan., to George and Margaret Kreger Herder. She was married to George L. Sterkel on June 22, 1926, in Mead. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1989.
She was formerly of Longmont. She lived in Loveland from 1956 to 1997; Delta from 1997 to 2001; and moved back to Bridgeport in October 2005.
She farmed with her husband for many years. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She loved to fish and crochet and was excellent at both.
She is survived by her son, Floyd S. Sterkel and wife Dorothy of Bridgeport; daughters Ardell Bath of Delta, and Julia Hart and husband Wilbert of Milliken; brothers Alex Herder of Torrington, Wyo., Edward Herder of Casper, Wyo., and Henry Herder of Rollins, Wyo.; sister Lydia Mayes of Casper; six grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters Frieda Herder, Emma Sterkel and Amelia Sterkel; and brother Pete Herder.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Allnutt Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Allnutt-Hunter Chapel.
A reception will be held in the Allnutt Funeral Service Reception Center at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
