Elizabeth Isaacks was born in South Carolina August 8, 1798 to Elijah Isaacks and Esther Donaho. She was the oldest of twelve children. By 1804, her family had moved to Tennessee and from there to Mississippi.

On March 16, 1812, at the age of fourteen, Elizabeth married William Clark who was eight years her senior. Together they had thirteen children in 23 years of marriage. Their first child Elijah was born in 1813. Elijah,Isaack, James, John, Henry and Mary were born in Mississippi.

When her father Elijah, decided to move to Texas in 1822, Elizabeth and her family had decided to go with them.

The rest of the children, Rachel, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Franklin, Amanda, Wilson and Frances were all born in Texas. Frances, the last of their children was born in 1836 during the revolutionary turmoil.

Elizabeth died in 1836, at the end of the Texas Revolution. She had not yet reached her fortieth birthday. She was among those women and children who were part of the "Runaway Scrape", fleeing Santa Anna's army in April. Elizabeth died in July. Some accounts of her death say she died in childbirth although her daughter was born in June and she died in July, and some say she died of pneumonia. She died in Big Sandy Creek Community, somewhere near the Sabine River. It is possible that she is buried in an unmarked grave in the same cemetery as William but at this time her burial site is unknown.
