CURRY, Charlotte Browning, 74, devoted wife, mother and friend, passed away on January 29, 2011. She was one of nine children born to James Roy and Gladys Mae Browning in Barboursville, W.Va. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. William L. Curry; three children, James William Curry (Beverley) of Richmond, Va., Elizabeth Browning Curry (Valerie) of Lexington, Va., and Raymond Scott Curry (Anne) of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Curry, Emily Allen Curry, Mary Carter Curry, Beverley Browning Curry and James Lake Curry; three brothers, James R. Browning (Clodine) of Chesapeake, Ohio, Robert C. Browning (Peggy) and Donald L. Browning, both of Barboursville, W.Va.; as well as a large extended family and many loving and supporting friends. Charlotte was committed to helping others and was involved with many volunteer and community organizations, including Trinity United Methodist Church, where she formerly served as a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher, Tuckahoe Woman's Club, Richmond Culinary Guild, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts where she served as a counsel member, Little Garden Club of Bon Air in Henrico County, Richmond Academy of Medicine Auxiliary (RAMA) where she served as president in 1981, Heartstrings Singing Group as a charter member, the Womans Club, Gentry Dance Club and the Westwood Club. Mrs. Curry was once a first grade school teacher in Henrico County, and was well known in the community in the last several decades for her love of and talent for flower arranging and gourmet cooking. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bliley's - Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. After a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Ave., followed by a reception. The family wishes to express its sincerest appreciation and gratitude to her caregivers at Cedarfield and to her many loyal and devoted friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
