Anna Mae Glidewell, 83 of Anadarko, Oklahoma was called home by the Lord on Monday, July 2, 2012 at her home, with her family by her side. She was born August 29, 1928 to James Buford and Annie Gustava (Cole) Davis in Stratford, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Raymond Alfred Glidewell on April 15, 1944 in Anadarko, and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in April 2009. While her children were young, she was a bookkeeper for Glidewell and Sons Plumbing and owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store. Later she obtained a BS from OCLA in Chickasha in 1969, and a Master of Education from East Central State College in Ada in 1973. She was a special education teacher at Purnell from 1970 through 1972 and at Anadarko Middle School from 1972 until her retirement in May 1990. In 1989 she was selected as teacher of the year at the Anadarko Junior High School. Her talents were many but she especially enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. Among other things, she made recital, prom and wedding dresses as well as costumes for school programs for her children and grandchildren. In addition each of her children and grandchildren have afghans and quilts made by her to cherish for many years to come. She was a member of the Anadarko Philomathic Club.

She is survived by four children, Evelyn Ann and Mike Reiss, Jim and Carolyn Glidewell of Anadarko; Bob Glidewell of Elgin, Evonne and Eddie Beaty of Lawton; In addition, she is survived by eleven grandchildren: Sheila and Philip Raney of Marlow; Raymond lll and Lorie Glidewell of Edmond; Eric and Karen Reiss of Burke, VA; Lisa and Jeff McCathern of Ardmore; Robert Glidewell of Anadarko; Jon and Alicia Glidewell of Anadarko; Jason Glidewell of Oklahoma City; Amy Underhill of Purcell; Jeff and Jill Beaty of Elgin; Kris and Ericka Beaty of Woodward and Josh and Katie Anne Turner of Fort Drum, NY. Seventeen great-grandchildren: Lydia, Hannah and Jacob Raney of Marlow: Buddy, Caleb and Savannah Glidewell of Edmond; Evangeline Reiss of Burke, VA; Madison and Preston McCathern of Ardmore; Dylan Glidewell of Anadarko; Harlie and Taln Glidewell of Anadarko; Cole and Clay Underhill of Purcell; McKenzie and Lakin Beaty of Woodward; and Rylee Beaty of Elgin. She is also survived by; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Donna Davis of Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Ray Anthony of Ninnekah and a sister, Gustina Shivey of North Carolina as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond A. Glidewell, a son, Raymond A. (Buddy) Glidewell Jr. and a sister Dorothy J. Adams.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Anadarko, Rev. Dennis King officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Anadarko.
