Services for George Aaron Smith, 90, of Lufkin, will be held in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Walter Futch officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born December 13, 1923 in Hubbard, Texas, Limestone County, the son of the late Mary Alice (Bailey) and Walter Pearl Smith, and passed away February 7, 2014 at his residence.
He retired from Flint Ink Company where he was a truck driver for many years. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He enjoyed car racing with his two brothers, and he was a big sports fan. He loved his family. He was known as 'the Firecracker Man' in Trinity, where he sold fireworks. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lufkin.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Juanita (Renfro) Smith of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Rhea Smith, Steven Paul and Leslie Smith all of Gold Beach, Oregon, daughter and fiancé, Ginny Bolton and Gerald Merriweather of Houston, TX, son, Travis Zane Loving of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, R. W. and Francis Loving of Conroe, TX Autry and Rosanne Loving of Trinity, TX; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special nephew and wife, Rusty and Geri Pate of Pasadena, TX; and numerous other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, A. C. Smith and D. L. Smith and sister, Ella Pearl Smith Pate.
