ROBINSON, HELEN—Helen Robinson, daughter of Elmer and Minnie Wileman, was born October 9, 1908, near Clay Center. She passed away April 7, 1989, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 29 days. She was one of three children in the family.

Helen was baptized on February 24, 1945, and was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a past-member of United Methodist Women’s Circle.

She grew up on a farm near Clay Center, and attended country school.

Helene was married to Glen Robinson of Ong on January 25, 1926, and to them three children were born; two daughters and one son who died in infancy.

After their marriage, they lived on a farm near Sutton and Ong, and then in 1950, they moved to a farm near Geneva where they farmed until their retirement when they moved into Geneva.

In 1972 Helen and Glen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

After Glen’s death in 1977, Helen was one of the first residents to move into Pioneer Manor, where she resided until failing health made it necessary for her to move to the Fillmore County Hospital Long Term Care Unit.

Helen spent her leisure time playing Bingo, embroidering and listening to Czech music.

She was a kind and loving mother and dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son; and by a brother and sister.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Walker and husband, Francis, of Geneva and Ruby Nimie and her husband, Charles, of Thousand Oaks, Cal., by four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Monday April 10, with the Rev. Cal Leeds officiating.

Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Kelly Eich who sang “How Great Thou Art” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”

Those serving as pallbearers were Alvin Rhodes, Donald Robinson, Elmer Robinson, Dwain Walker, Mark Walker and Randy Walker.

Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery.
