Husband of Catharine E. Diffendel (1897-1972)

Dr. Foye R. Troute, M.D. was born 14 Jan 1891 in Port William, Liberty Twp, Clinton, OH, the son of Ira Troute (1854-1915) and Letitia A. Swonger (1861-1934).

Foye married Catharine E. Diffendel on 08 Sep 1914 in Greene County, OH. She was the daughter of John Diffendel (1857-1944) and Elizabeth J. Mimnex 1858-1934). At least (5) children were born to this union: Ralph I., 1915; Alice Marie, 18 Oct 1918 (died one day old); Foye Marion, 28 Nov 1919; Dorothy D., 15 Dec 1923; and Robert W. Troute, 8 Sep 1931, the first two children being born in Ross Twp, Greene, OH, and the remainder being born in Denver, CO.

At about age 25, Foye graduated from the University of Ohio, College of Medicine, as a Doctor of Medicine, Class of 1916, and he would devote the rest of his life to the practice of medicine in service to his country and community.

With the coming of World War-I, Dr. Foye R. Trout joined the US Army on 4 Sept 1918 as a 1st Lieutenant, Medical Corps, assigned 11th Sanitary Train (Ambulance Companies & Field Hospitals No. 341, 342, 343, & 344), US Army 11th Division; also known as the "Les Terribles" or "Red Arrow Division," which was ultimately reorganized as the 32nd Division. His division was heavily engaged in the Battle of the Marne; the Battle of Oise; and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, and it can be assumed that Foye's medical skills were taxed beyond measure with the heavy traumatic casualties as well as the repeated gas attacks. 1st Lt. (Doctor) Foye R. Troute was discharged 10 May 1920 at Camp Greenleaf, GA with a 40% disability. However, he continued in service of his country for some years as a Captain the Medical Corps, Colorado National Guard while also practicing family medicine in service to his community in Denver, Colorado.
